Event Details:

For Koi Club of San Diego active members only
Date:  June 11th, 2017
Time:  1:00 pm
Location:
Speaker:  Shawn McHenery from Mystic Koi
Topic:  Grow out and how to pick young Tosai Koi

Purpose:

The main purpose is for KCSD member hobbyists to share their tosai grow out experiences and tosai appreciation. It’s also a chance to purchase high quality tosai from a top breeder at a special discounted price. When you return them after a growing season to compare and share growth and development against their siblings at next year’s event it’ll be educational and fun for all.

Grow out rules and details:

Mystic Koi has secured Koi fish from Taniguchi, Omosako, and Beppu.  30-50 pieces depending on registration.  Varieties include Gosanke, Goshiki, Shiros, and Kujakus

This event is KCSD active membership. To ensure participants all get an equal chance, a lottery system will be used to distribute the koi. Selection order will go by order of corresponding member and their assigned lottery number. It is possible for multiple rounds once everyone completes their first choice and then proceed to next round if any members wish to select additional koi

Mystic has allocated 30-50 koi for the event. Tickets for the 1st round of quality tosai are $75 each. Lottery number for the 2nd round and any other possible rounds after that are $75 . You may purchase as many of the available tickets as you like.

Every koi will be photographed and numbered with a short video clip available on our website. At the event the koi will be displayed viewing tanks with numbered photos of each koi to allow your close examination.

All koi returning for the June 2018 judging must be in good health. Koi with any signs of sickness or parasites will be disqualified. Examine your fish from top to bottom before you bring them to the show. Fish that have any signs of injury, parasites, or illness should not be transported to the judging. This will include any areas of injury or infection that are not completely.

Returning fish will be judged in individual bags.

Awards and Judging

Shawn McHenry will return June 2018 member meeting to judge for the following awards:

The Three Most Growth Tosai (based on increase in length) 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place and Judge award

PreRegistration is strongly encouraged.
